Most of the time social media is said to distract us from what we must get done or just helps us procrastinate more. There was a time I had thought that it was exactly that along with being a way to waste time and that it only helped keep my siblings and myself unfocused. But that mindset of mine changed as I took the time to learn about how social media is more good than bad. For instance, due to social media no matter where we are, we stay connected and well informed. Also according to AJ Agrawal from Forbes points out a good point, which is “ Major news outlets, corporations and persons of interest use social media to deliver messages to the masses.” (forbes.com) This comes in handy keeping us aware of what is going on in the moment or in the world, due to the continuous flow between people and social media we are able to get news alerts quickly. Another aspect is through social media teenagers are able to join various groups, organizations, or causes formed and posted on social media. Which helps teenagers or even everyone feel more like they are part of a team, especially when feeling like you do not belong. Social media helps bring that sense that you are not an outcast, but part of something. Next businesses get noticed very well through social media. When scrolling down my newsfeed, for example, I come across various videos or post of per say Hot Topic and different bath bombs a place is selling. So social media also helps businesses show off who they are and what they have more. Furthermore, social media whenever scrolling one can find various individuals or groups asking everyone for support through their dilemmas, disasters, or causes.

This brings a good saying to mind, Never judge a book by its cover, right? This phrase taught me that I could not be quick to judge something by just its looks. Instead, it is good to research and learn about what we do not know instead of sitting there and judging it because we are being ignorant. However, I am not saying social media is one hundred percent good and perfect nor am I saying is it one hundred percent bad. Mainly as anything or anyone has some flaws there are flaws of social media, but just as there are flaws, there are good qualities too.
