Card Games With a Twist
Spending time with family is important. Because it gives you time to sit down and have a good laugh with one another or talk about each others day. Especially with technology everywhere we are spending more time with our face glued to the screen or phone rather then sitting down and talking with the people we call family. When I say family I do not mean just your blood related family, since anyone or anything can be your family such as your friends.
With that said one way we can bring the family together is through game night, some of the games we have played with other another are Monopoly, Twister, Card game, Uno, and so forth. Those are fun and friendly games to play with your family. However, that does not mean those are the only games we have to choose from to play, so being the curious person I researched a little on games that are fun, but that are not your ordinary classic games. Because even though the classic games will always be great it is fun to change it up sometimes, especially changing up card games. So let us begin?
1) Cards Against Humanity:

This game as it says on the box is “A party game for horrible people”! The game is very fun and funny, seriously I played with my family and we could not stop laughing. Which I find makes it a great game, because instead of just sitting around and going one by one this game gets you and your friends or family laughing with its answers to the fill in the blank questions. Also the game lets you know it is to be played by those 17 and up since there are some cards with sexual references or things a younger child should not know. But that is something that makes it a funny and great game for those eligible to play it. It is like the title says “a game for horrible people”, but nonetheless it is one heck of a game to play, especially if you are not having such a great day this game can lighten up your mood and those playing and one of the best parts is that you can make your own set of cards as it states on the site cardsagainsthumanity.com “ Cards Against Humanity is available for free under a Creative Commons license. Making a set will take an hour and cost about $10. Download the PDF for rules and printing instructions.” That sounds awesome wonder what kind of cards you or I would come up with. Cards Against Humanity was created by Max Temkin, Josh Dillon, Daniel Drano, Eli Halpern, Ben Hantoot, David Munk, David Pinsof, and Eliot Weinstein.
2) Slash: Romance Without Boundaries

Who loves fan fiction or pairing up various characters together? I know it is fun, thus why I am excited about this card game. I only just found out about it, but I would love to get it because the point of this game is to pair up a pair of characters. However, it is not just about pairing up the character because you think they would make a good couple, but you really have to sell it to whoever is appointed judge at that moment. Such as explaining why they would go well together whether you want to pair up Ariel and Flynn Rider or Ariel and another princess, you need to really be able to convince the judge to choose your pairing. Also, this game was published independently and had a very good run in 2015 and was designed by Glenn Given.
3) Love 2 Hate

This game has the essence of Cards Against Humanity, with it being humorous and improper. The fact it is improper is what makes this game so funny, but it does not have many cards that can be offensive like CAH, but at this day and age things that come off as offensive will most of the time make someone laugh. Anyhow in this game instead of the judge picking a card with a sentence with blanks to fill in, this game has a judge pick a card with just a word, while the players must pick and submit a phrase that fits with the word the judge picked in order to win the point. Also Love 2 Hate is owned and made by Green Ronin.
Now these are just three of the games I know, but I bet there are still more out there like these card games or even funnier. I wonder what games in various other countries and nations are like this or sort of like this, but different. Thank goodness the internet is here to find this out or better yet start up a conversation with someone you just met and see if they know any off the top of their head or talk about these three because these games are certainly a conversation starter. However, what I find most amazing is that Cards Against Humanity is actually based off of the game called Apples to Apples, which I have seen in stores yet I have not gotten the chance to play it. Now Apples to Apples is made by Mattel but is like CAH just a little cleaner. Nonetheless, card games or any game is a great way to spend time with the family or friends, but there is nothing like throwing a bit of a twist into the games you play.
